Our first day in Amsterdam, cloudy and a cold 8˚C when we arrived at 6:30am, but Farida and I wandered the streets until 2:00pm before checking into our hotel, actually Botel. Amsterdam has a population of about 800,000 and there are about 500,000 bicycles in the city. One would think that by using a bicycle you would avoid the hassles of mechanical problems one has to deal with motor vehicles. As this photograph shows it’s not so. Photograph taken 19th April 2012.
