As we were driving to the UNESCO World Heritage site at Goberstan to see the 40,000 year old rock drawings I noticed this shepherd tending to his sheep. The landscape is typical of the landscape on our 50-kilometre drive from the capital Baku. It is treeless, appears infertile and certainly not great for stunning landscape photographs. However, we photographers must make images that portray the area and in my opinion this photograph does the job. Not only does it portray the typical landscape but the shepherd is typical of the rural Azerbaijanis.
