Today began with another cloudy day – but the clouds disappear after driving about five kilometres and we were surrounded by blue skies and 30˚C temperatures. It was quite amazing as we ascended into the mountains we could se the cloud cover over the northern coast below us. The clouds remained in that 5-kilometre strip all day and when we arrived back at our hotel it was 20˚C and cloudy.
Today’s journey was interesting as the scenery varied as we travelled south through the centre of the island. We drove to the highest point, 1,949 metres and at the first volcanic crater we saw the first golf course built in Spain nearby. The Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas was inaugurated in 1891 and has spectacular views of Bandama volcanic crater, distant sea views and mountain ranges to the south.
