Trincomalee – Sri Lanka

Fort Federick, Trincomalee, Sri Lanka

Fort Federick, Trincomalee, Sri Lanka

Trincomalee where the water is as warm as tea and as clear as gin. It wasn’t until 2012, my third trip to Sri Lanka that I could visit this part of the island, as previously it was off limits to tourists due to the civil war. Consequently it is now very under-developed and a pleasure to travel through. This photograph shows the walls of Fort Federick, which was originally built by the Portuguese in 1623. The harbour is one of the largest and best sheltered in the world.

This photograph was taken with Nikon D90 & 16-85mm lens at 16mm, ƒ7.1 on 28th July 2012
